You do not need to feel like you struggle to be in control of you or your child’s sleep.
Our ability to sleep is an innate skill, however due to circumstances and physiological changes we can often find ourselves in a position where we no longer feel in charge of our sleep. We end up chasing our tails trying numerous remedies, medications and behaviours which sometimes end up making it worse!
Learning to take control over your sleep can be addressed by focusing on 4 main areas relating to sleep:
A = Affect how we feel, our stress levels and our level of emotional arousal due to stress/worry and life demands.
B = Behaviour our habits and routines and how they impact our ability to sleep and stay asleep.
C = Cognitions our thoughts and beliefs around sleep and our ability to sleep and stay asleep. Disturbing thoughts, creative thoughts and imagery that may get in the way of quality sleep.
D= Details Information about how the sleep cycle works and what your brain gets up to whilst you sleep. Using this understanding to re-train your sleep architecture.
How it works
Sleep therapy offers the ability to pre-assess your specific sleep difficulty and to customize the approach using the 4 main areas to address your specific sleep concerns. In addition you will learn easy techniques and feel empowered to take back full control over your sleep and be able to maintain this control.
Sleep appears very mysterious to many of us but when we break it down we become aware that we are more than able to maintain control over our sleep and maximize the quality of sleep over quantity. Everyone can improve the quality of their sleep.
Sleep for Children
We offer programs to help parents manage their children’s sleep from as early as expecting a new baby and setting up a sleep routine to managing the older child who cannot get to sleep or wakes during the night. We also are able to assist with nightmares.
Sleep for Teenagers
Programs offered to teenagers to assist them in understanding the changes to their sleep patterns during teen years. Managing school and life stress without it impacting sleep. How to set up a sleep routine and manage waking for school.
Sleep for Adults
Re-training of sleep patterns and assisting to enable you to get to sleep and stay asleep. Assisting with stress related insomnia, difficulty getting to sleep and night waking, nightmares, light sleep and waking feeling un-refreshed.
Outcome
In most cases, attending a workshop or 2-3 individual consultations is sufficient to set up your own sleep re-training program for yourself or a child which needs to be implemented to see results. We provide on-going support and most adult clients see results within or by 4 weeks. Children and Teens often see results sooner depending on the consistency of application of the program.
Making a booking
Medicare rebates are available if you are referred by a GP for sleep on a Mental Health Plan. Alternatively Private Health with extras can be accessed.
